전문

Fluent reading involves more than recognizing vocabulary. Readers continuously infer relationships between sentences, notice what a writer chooses not to say, and adjust their interpretation when the tone changes.

Consider the sentence, ‘That is one way to approach it.’ Its literal meaning sounds neutral. In a meeting, however, it may be a careful signal that the speaker has reservations but does not want to reject the idea directly.

Context determines whether such a phrase expresses curiosity, caution, or disagreement. The words around it matter, but so do the relationship between the speakers and the purpose of the conversation.

This is why direct translation can be accurate at the sentence level and still miss the communicative meaning. A helpful explanation should identify both what the sentence says and what it is doing in that situation.

Language learning becomes more durable when a phrase stays connected to its tone, likely intention, and alternatives. The learner is then building a usable concept rather than memorizing a detached equivalent.
